Fair value, not just market price
Business valuation is the process used to assess the fair value of a business or an owner's interest in it. Through valuation, the selling price of a business can be estimated using a number of methods.
Sometimes an investor decides to exit an investment; sometimes an investor wants to enter an existing business and needs to know its value first. In either case the investor should seek advice from a specialised consultancy to estimate fair value. Fair price and market price are different: market price is set by demand and does not necessarily equal fair value.
When businesses need a valuation
- Disposal of an equity stake
- Introducing a new shareholder or partner
- Acquiring the assets or shares of a target
- Mergers and acquisitions
- Restructuring analysis and spin-offs
- Debt financing
- Initial public offerings
Mart Solution determines the fair value of an asset or of company equity by applying the most recognised and applicable valuation methods. Internationally recognised methods are not equally suited to every business, so we help each client select the methods that fit its business best.
