The consequences of an unexpected disruption can be far-reaching: loss of life, loss of assets or income, or the inability to deliver the products and services on which survival depends. By identifying the impact of disruption in advance, business continuity management shows which products and services are crucial to the organisation and what responses will be needed when a disruption occurs. ISO 22301 then provides the capability to react adequately.
